One of the most effective tools available to CMOP is the trainer. Through our continued provision of hands-on training and workshop sessions, we are able to address organizational needs on-the-ground with staff and members. The creation of space to listen, address and strategize with communications staff and members around their current campaign needs is essential to the work of CMOP.
Boomer is one of the original organizers and consultants with CMOP. He's spent ten years as an organizer with SOCM working on issues such as strip mining, agricultural spraying and media training. He's also a thirty year veteran of various media oulets in his home region of East Tennessee; having worked with many newspapers as a reporter, columnist and editor. He also knows his way around a radio station or three.
Boomer specializes in Community Organizing with Media, Media Timelines, Media Strategy, Development of Media Plans and Use of Story to Propel Campaigns. (Among many other things!)
An native of Eastern Tennessee and the current coordinator of CMOP, William is a long-time worker for media, land, racial and economic justice in the region. As a former farm intern at the Highlander Research and Education Center, co-founder of UBS: Hands Off Appalachia! Campaign, a founding member of Melange and volunteer coordinator for the birdhouse in Knoxville, Tennessee, William works around the strategic intersections of independent media production, land justice, direct action and historic preservation.

Chris has more than 20 years of experience in media and television production. He has written, edited, shot and produced programming for non-profit television, sports, news magazines, commercials and documentaries, including work for PBS, FOX, ESPN, CBS, NBC and HGTV.

vagabond is a NYC born and based artist, writer and filmmaker. He cofounded the RICANSTRUCTION Netwerk artist collective where he illegally painted murals, designed agit-prop in the form of pamphlets, posters, zines, documentaries and videos and helped organize protests and political classes. His debut feature film MACHETERO has won awards in South Africa, Wales, England, Thailand, Ireland and New York.

Carla is a Knoxville-born creative, living in Denver, Colorado. Her experience in reconciliation efforts between religious groups and political factions in Northern Ireland, as well as at home in her own family and community, has fueled her passion to create positive, empowering artwork for organizations and companies dealing with controversial issues around the United States. Her illustrations are simple and evocative, and her designs reflect the passion she feels for the causes they support.
Carla specializes in Graphic Design and Illustration.
Saro Lynch-Thomason is a multi-media storyteller and performer. Based out of Asheville, NC, she has produced media ranging from music compilations on Appalachian labor history (see BlairPathways.com) to illustrated children’s books on environmental issues. Saro is also a worker-owner at FullSteam Labs a worker-owned cooperative.

Denise Moorehead is principal strategist at Moorehead Creative Solutions, offering strategic marketing, communications and training support for nonprofits and small businesses. As a trainer, she helps workshop participants explore social class and classism, the intersection of class and race in the U.S., and the role of classism in rising inequality, using the interactive popular education model. She additionally provides training in communications and social media. A founder of UU Class Conversations, Denise has worked in higher education, government and the nonprofit sector. She serves on numerous boards of trustees and advisory committees and is a member of Framingham Town Meeting.
Jason Johnson is a tech and design problem solver. He works with a wide range of skills to come up with creative solutions for both tech-related problems and visual designs. He enjoys designing infographics, developing custom Wordpress code, and creating streamlined workflows for repetitive tasks. Jason is also a worker-owner at FullSteam Labs a worker-owned cooperative.
